Azad Namazie is Digital Archivist at UCLA Library Special Collections (LSC), where they work with born-digital archival materials, including legacy and obsolete formats, to support preservation, access, and long-term stewardship. They also oversee the day-to-day operations of the Digital Preservation Lab, which supports the technological needs of LSC’s digital content through vintage computing equipment, obsolete media controllers, disk-imaging workstations, and other specialized peripherals. Azad received the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation/UCLA Community Archives Lab grant in 2023 for their work with the Skid Row History Museum & Archive and was the 2023 Digital Library Federation Forum Fellow. They have been a panelist for the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Conference, Project STAND, and We Here.
