Restart It Again: Troubleshooting in Context

Nick Krabbenhoeft, Ben Turkus, and Alison Rhonemus, New York Public Library; Caroline Gil Rodríguez

Troubleshooting isn’t something that should be approached haphazardly. And unfortunately, there is little available training in how to bring systematic thinking to solving problems in managing digital collections. What training does exist often takes the form of skill-sharing, cross-departmental collaborations, and informal sessions. In this panel, NYPL staff will present a range of troubleshooting methodologies, illustrated by individual experiences and compared through group discussion. Discussion will include topics such as: how to diagnose issues, why collaboration is critical, how other fields of practice can serve as an inspiration, and when to question received wisdom.
