“Fearless and Undefined:” What Starting a New Job Sounds Like

Starting a new digital preservation job can feel a lot like hitting reset, even when you’ve been in the field for a few years – figuring out where things were left off, what workflows and tools exist, and division of responsibilities. There’s a lot of information all at once from many different sources, which can be disorienting and even off-putting, especially if it varies from past experiences and expectations.

With all the “new,” how do you decide what to prioritize? What do you bring from your old job to your new job in terms of workflows, tools, and experiences? How do you adjust your expectations for the year ahead?

This presentation will discuss adjusting to a new position and provide tips for figuring out where to start focusing your energy. From learning Windows commands, identifying who to ask about installing tools on your computer, or digging into documentation, hitting reset can be a new and exciting adventure.
